Size 12 Women's Shoe Size and Width Charts

Standard is 12B. If 12B feels snug, 12C is slightly wider, and we make size 12 in every width from A to EEE.

A women's size 12B (standard width) foot has a ball girth of about 26.5 cm (10.43 in), and a women's size 12.5B about 26.8 cm (10.55 in). Adelante makes both sizes in 7 widths: size 12 ball girth runs from 25.9 cm for A width to 29.9 cm for EEE width, and size 12.5 ball girth from 26.2 cm for A width to 30.3 cm for EEE width, with each width about 6 to 8 mm larger in ball girth.

Ball girth is the circumference around the widest part of your forefoot, across the ball, just below where your toes begin.

For example, a size 12 foot with a ball girth of 27.8 cm (10.94 in) is a 12D at Adelante, and a size 12.5 foot at 28.1 cm (11.06 in) is a 12.5D.

How to measure your ball girth

  1. Stand up. Your foot spreads under your full body weight, so a measurement taken sitting reads smaller. Measure in the evening, when your feet are at their largest.
  2. Wrap the widest part of your forefoot. Wrap a soft measuring tape around the ball of your foot, just below where your toes begin. Let it run at a slight angle, a little further forward at the big toe joint than at the little toe joint. Pull it snug, but not tight. No soft tape? Use a strip of paper or a piece of string, mark where the end meets, then measure it with a ruler.
  3. Record it in centimeters, for both feet. Use the larger number on the chart. If your feet differ by a full width or more, split sizing lets you choose a different width for each foot, free of charge.

UK sizes are women's US size minus 2. Brands vary, and foot lengths are Adelante's own fit. For the best fit, use your foot length and ball girth measurements, and take into consideration the size that you wear in other brand's leather footwear.

Every women's size from 4 to 15 follows the same 2-size rule: women's size = men's size plus 2, so a women's 12 is a men's 10.
