The Mendoza — Men's Chelsea Boot

Love the shoe/boot, I had many compliments.

However, I wore them on day and got caught in the rain. They became very wet. Where my jeans covered the boot remained protected and is ok. But what can I do to restore the boots. Should I try to make to protected portion look like the other then restore all at once? Please advise.

Fabulous boots, and the service from the company was incredible! Because on of my feet is slightly bigger than I realized, I actually had to send the boots back, not once but twice and they were so helpful and accodomating...they really walk the talk that they will make sure it's a great fit and will keep trying until they nail it. Amazing, really. I rarely send things back like this, and hesitated too, but they made it feel so natural and welcoming. In the end, one of my boots is two sizes wider. And the boots are absolutely beautiful, a dream to walk in even before being broken in. Can't recommend the product and the company enough. OK…the Mendoza…
This is my first pair of shoes from Adelante, and overall I’m super impressed. They found the sweet spot between luxury, functionality and cost.
These quickly became my go-to shoes. The break-in period was almost zero, and they just always look good. My only complaint is the rubber outsole - I may get these replace with some Vibram or Danite soles for a little better wear and grip. But, seriously, that’s the only thing I would improve.
I’m also new to the world of veg-tanned leather. I’ve always been a chromexcel kind of guy. I wasn’t expecting how much extra care they would need. With my CXL boots and shoes I can generally just treat them once a month or less and really beat them up. But these need a little more TLC. I highly, highly, highly recommend getting and applying Adelante’s shoe creams and other products. It makes a world of difference and keeps them looking fantastic.

Even after only a couple months, they’re starting to darken really nicely in the toes and heels. A lot of this is from my rubbing out scratches. Little by slowly, they’re getting some really nice character

The best thing is the wide sizes. It’s so hard to find good shoes at a reasonable price that come in extra wide sizes, but Adelante delivers. I got these in a 9.5 EEEE so I can wear thicker socks with them in the cooler months. My pair of Classicos I got in a 9.5 EEE and wear them with thinner socks. With my next pair of Classicos (and perhaps Mendozas) I’ll get one shoe wider - It’s such an awesome feature they have available.
As far as sizing, they are spot on. In the past, I always wore a 10.5 EE because that what fit me off the shelf. When I actually measured my foot, I’m a 9.5 EEE. Think about this when you order shoes. If you go to a shoe store and they measure you, they’ll recommend the next higher shoe size that will mostly fit. So, I usually got 10.5 EE or 11 - but they never actually fit right, and it led to a lot of foot problems. At Adelante, whatever size you ACTUALLY need, is the size you CAN and SHOULD get. It seems odd, but getting the right size also helps your shoes last longer, because then bend and crease in the right places. Super important.
Shipping was super easy. I first ordered a pair of Classicos, but I got them in the wrong size, so the good folks at Adelante easily let me ship them back and exchange them for my Mendoza. It does take a few weeks for the shoes to arrive…but, hey…they’re custom made. Considering that, and how long it takes to get a pair of Whites or Nicks or other custom made shoes…you can’t beat the price, quality and turn-around time.

The whole experience was excellent. Old world service and care. Boots are amazing and look great.

I’m gradually breaking them in while wearing them indoors. They will be ready to wear outside when the snow disappears. I’m happy with the boots. They look more like a cowboy boot than a traditional Chelsea boot.

Look great! Would be wonderful if there was more grip on the bottom surface of the shoe. These are slick in the summer.

These are spectacular shoes. I love the color, style, and build quality. It was tough at first finding the right size but the Adelante team was GREAT helping me through the return process and communicating throughout. I would recommend a pair of Adelantes to anybody based on my customer service experience alone but the mission of supporting local craftspeople and providing a living wage is even more important. I love the mission this company sets forth. From the time I ordered the product to receipt, I received a few follow up emails regarding the cobbler that was assigned to make the boot, a video of the individual performing his craft as well as satisfaction surveys. I appreciate that you folks stand behind your employees, the community and the employees! The Mendoza boot arrived just as the pictures and video's appeared. I used a light wax that was recommended by Adelante and it's worked well to repel water and dirt. I will be a return customer as I'm already eyeing 'The Luca' loafer.
