Most women's tall boots offer one calf circumference — maybe two if you're lucky. Adelante offers nine. Whether you have big calves or slim calves, your boots are built to that specification by a master artisan, then shipped to your door.
How to Measure Your Calf Width at Home
You will need a flexible measuring tape, plus pen and paper.
Step 1: Sit down
Sit in a chair with your leg bent at 90 degrees. Place your bare foot flat on the floor.
Step 2: Locate the widest point of your calf
Wrap a soft measuring tape around the circumference of your calf and slide it up and down until you find the widest point. Don't pull it tight — you want a comfortable measurement, not a minimum.
Step 3: Record measurement in centimeters
Note the number in centimeters and select the measurement range that corresponds. Your artisan does the rest!

Most standard boots are built for a calf circumference of 14–15 inches (35–38cm). A boot is generally considered wide calf if it accommodates 16 inches (40cm) or more. At Adelante, wide calf boots are made to your exact measurement — from 29cm to 46.9cm — across 9 distinct calf width options.
What is the widest calf size available in Adelante boots?
Adelante's widest standard calf option is approximately 46.9cm (about 18.5 inches), our Wide III sizing. For measurements beyond this, contact us directly and we will work with you to accommodate your fit.
Can I order wide calf boots if my foot width is narrow or standard?
Yes. At Adelante, foot width and calf circumference are selected independently. You can order any combination — including a narrow foot width with an extra wide calf — because every dimension is custom-crafted at the time of your order.
Do you make boots for 16, 17, or 18-inch calves?
Yes. A 16-inch calf (approximately 40–41cm) falls in our Wide I range. A 17-inch calf (approximately 43cm) falls in our Wide II range. An 18-inch calf (approximately 45–46cm) falls in our Wide III sizing — the widest in our standard range. Every pair is made to your exact measurement, so your artisan builds to the precise circumference you provide at checkout.

How do I measure my calf for boots?
